Umkumbe Safari Lodge Riverside is in the southern section of the world famous Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve, the lodge is overlooking the Sand river which makes it ideal for an incredible wildlife experience. Sabi Sand is known for being the most premier place to view Africa's big five, Umkumbe Safari Lodge Riverside enjoys a great location which gives it an edge on other lodges in viewing Africa's Big Five up close.Â
Viewing the Big Five (elephant, rhino, lion, leopard, and buffalo) is much easier at Umkumbe without paying the premium price at other more expensive lodges. You are guaranteed great sightings including cheetah, wild dog and hundreds of other species of animals, birds, and plants indigenous to the area.Â
What makes an Umkumbe safari a memorable experience is that the owners are there to manage the daily operation of the lodge and they also host the guests to ensure that all guests are comfortable and everything is in place. In order to have a great safari experience at Umkumbe Safari Lodge, we recommend a minimum stay of three nights.
The lodge can accommodate around 20 guests when it's full, this ensures an exclusive safari experience, some rooms and suites are facing the Sand River and other rooms face a seasonal waterhole.

Incredible wildlife!
This was our third lodge to visit during our holiday, we can honestly say it was fantastic. We stayed in a spacious bungalow with outside shower. There are 2 safari drives every day and our guides really went above and beyond to find us all the animals we asked for 🙂 We took amazing wildlife shots as we got so close to lions and leopards, it was wonderful.
