Rhino Post Safari Lodge - Kruger National Park
Rhino Post Safari Lodge is named after a rhino rubbing post which we discovered in the area just east of what is now the car park. A resident rhino had used this tree stump to rub up against to such an extent that it had become as smooth and glossy as a lovingly polished piece of furniture.
There are a total of 8 suites, each overlooking the (usually dry) Mutlumuvi riverbed. The river flows only when there is heavy localised rainfall as its catchment is very small with the source only about 30 kilometres from the lodge. When it does flow, it is a sight to behold, but it subsides almost as quickly as it fills up. The longest the river has ever flowed for since the lodge was built is two weeks.
Activities at Rhino Post Safari Lodge are focused on game drives. An early morning game drive typically leaves at about 06h15 after an early tea, and returns between 09h30 and 10h30. The evening drive departs at 16h00 and returns between 19h00 and 20h00, stopping for sundowners at sunset. For morning drives hats and sunscreen are advisable and for evening drives warm jackets (even in summertime, the temperature can drop quite rapidly after sunset).
Rhino Post Safari Lodge - Video
Rhino Post Safari Lodge has been offering a chic alternative to a traditional Kruger safari holiday since 2003, and what a fabulous time it has been! We have been nominated for and received various awards and developed a following of regular guests and friends that we look forward to seeing every year.
Visitors to our lodge are often surprised and charmed by the uniqueness that is Rhino Post – we are not a standard Kruger Park nor a trendy private lodge experience. Our guests love us and keep us busy with referrals and repeat visits. It’s these guests that know we are different and value the reasons why.

Rhino Post Reviews
Rhino Post was the best portion of our trip to South Africa, the camp has a wild and beautiful feel about it. We felt that we were part of the surroundings because the camp had no fences and wildlife wondered through the camp.
