Kambaku Safari Lodge - Kruger National Park

Accommodating only 16 guests Kambaku Safari Lodge is an exclusive yet affordable lodge. Combining simple luxury, a high level of environmental consciousness, meticulous design and tasteful decoration to blend in with the charm and serenity of the natural surrounds. This fully fenced family-friendly lodge has a feeling of relaxed intimacy where strangers meet and leave as friends.

Since the formation of the Timbavati Association, every landowner in the area has been encouraged to join in the conservation effort. Today there are over 50 members who have succeeded in restoring the land to its former glory, with diverse and rare wildlife species making the Timbavati their home. In 1993, in recognition of the importance of the area, the fences between the Kruger National Park and the Timbavati Reserve were removed to encourage natural species migration.

Expect to enjoy intimate sightings of the Big 5, White Lions, Wild Dogs, Cheetah, Hippo, and Crocodile as well as a large variety of other general game and birds whilst taking in the natural beauty of the real African bushveld.

Timbavati Game Reserve, 53 392 unfenced hectares of gorgeous nature reserve, is located to the north and west of the famous Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve and the Kruger National Park, respectively. Decades old, this reserve is a much treasured getaway destination. With more than forty individual mammal species and over 360 bird species, and gorgeous facilities, guests are guaranteed all the relaxation and authentic bush adventure of the very best safari trip. As the greater reserve drifts into focus, a spattering of charming thatch roofed cottages draw the eye to the rustic and beautiful Kambaku Safari Lodge. Well situated and recently renovated, Kambaku is a cozy holiday lodge with family-friendly facilities, perfect for an intimate stay in this beautiful park. Enjoy romantic dinners in the crisp, evening air of the Timbavati; the boma surrounded by the sounds of nocturnal park inhabitants awakening and calling out to each other.
Kambaku Lodge accommodation consists of eight thatched chalets, complete with en-suite bathrooms, four poster beds and mosquito net draping, lanterns for light and 220 volt power points, overhead fans, and gas geysers.
Timbavati Game Reserve is the proud home of a group of indigenous white lions which were reintegrated into the area as in 2006. In addition, there are extensive populations of all members of the Big Five, cheetah, wild dog, hyena, zebra, and giraffe, more than 120 listed species of reptile and fish, as well as the gigantic bird population, all of which are put at your fingertips by the resident guides during your stay here.
Children are welcome at Kambaku Safari Lodge Children 4 Years and older may join the game drives Children under 4 years old, may join on game drives with a private vehicle at an additional cost. Children 12 and older may join the bush walks
BY ROAD: From Johannesburg > From Johannesburg head for Witbank on the N12 highway. This highway becomes the N4 > Continue on the N4 until you see the Belfast turnoff. Take the Belfast turn off and head into the little town of Belfast > In the centre of town you will see a sign post for Dullstroom / Lydenburg. Turn right there > Continue on this road for approximately 30kms until you reach Dullstroom > Continue straight through the village of Dullstroom and head for Lydenburg, approximately 50kms . You will come to a T Junction > Turn left there and head into the town of Lydenburg > At the second set of traffic lights, turn left. This is a ring road that will take you out of town and onto the R36 towards the village of Origstad > Once on this road you will head directly for Hoedspruit. Once in Hoedspruit , continue on straight through the town > You will go over a small bridge and then at the four way intersection you will turn right onto the R40 > Head out of town for approximately 6 kms. Turn left at the Timbavati / Eastgate Airport road > You will go through a control gate and then head directly for the Timbavati Game Reserve Gate which is roughly 30kms further on > There is approximately 10kms of fairly corrugated dirt road to be journeyed on just before reaching the Gate. Once at the Reserve Gate you will need to pay a conservation levy of R100 per person and R100 per vehicle > Once in the reserve continue straight for 2kms, then turn right when you see the direction sign board. Follow the Kambaku signs to the lodge. FROM NELSPRUIT BY ROAD: > From Nelspruit take the R40 past White River and continue on to Hazyview, then Bushbuckridge and Acornhoek > Carry on straight along this road past the Orpen road turnoff , until you see the Hoedspruit turn off to your right > Turn right here and continue on this road until eventually you see the main Timbavati/ Eastgate Airport road on your right > Turn right here. You will go through a control gate and then head directly for the Timbavati Game Reserve Gate which is roughly 30kms further on > There is approximately 10kms of fairly corrugated dirt road to be journeyed on just before reaching the Gate > Once at the Reserve Gate you will need to pay a conservation levy of R100 per person and R100 per vehicle. The entrance fee can only be confirmed at the time of making your reservation (Prices subject to change) > Once in the reserve continue straight for 2kms, then turn right when you see the direction sign board. Follow the Kambaku signs to the lodge.
