Sabi Sand Reserve Safari

The Sabi Sand Reserve is the best and most prestigious wildlife reserve in South Africa. There is absolutely no question of this.

We have a lasting passion and closeness with the Sabi Sand Reserve. It is the most expensive reserve in South Africa and over the years so much of what our clients have experienced has happened with us in the Sabi Sand Reserve.

The Sabi Sand Reserve forms part of the exclusive selection of private game reserves that border the unfenced western edge of the Kruger National Park. This 55,000-hectare reserve offers you an opportunity to view, at very close quarters, the untamed African bush and all it's indigenous wildlife.

We operate in the wilder northern part of the Sabi Sand Reserve, which is fortunately still affordable and is very much situated away from the mainstream tourist areas. We offer 3, 4 and 5 day packages as standard tours.

One can still experience the tranquillity of the South African bush in seclusion in the Sabi Sand Reserve. You will find the accommodation exceedingly comfortable. At the lodge the service is open and friendly, giving you that homely atmosphere. All your game drives and walking safaris are carried out by professional game rangers and local trackers, who will always indulge you with the best available game viewing.

There is no 'best time' to visit the Sabi Sand Reserve. It's just great to visit anytime. There are two distinct seasons that could determine when you would prefer to visit:

Summer season (September - March) is the season during which all the animals flourish because of the rain - it's the time of plenty. Thunderstorms occur mostly late afternoon or at night. As a result the reserve is transformed into a green paradise. It's the time to enjoy beautiful trees and flowers. Hundreds of Impala lambs are born; staple diet of all the predators. During the summer season you must be prepared for average temperatures of 32 C with maximum temperatures reaching 47 C. There is more consistent rain during the day, towards the end of the summer season - February to March.

Winter season (April - August) is the dry season. Because it virtually doesn't rain in winter, the reserve is transformed into a brown and almost barren landscape. The animals have to concentrate at the perennial waterholes. The grass is low, the bushes and trees have lost their leaves. As a result one can have an unobstructed view through the bush making the game viewing much easier. During the winter season you must be prepared for temperatures dropping to 4 C at night and in the mornings, with daytime temperatures reaching a comfortable 24 C.

The Sabi Sand Reserve is world-renowned for it's Leopard sightings. It's all 'close up' game viewing - mostly only a few metres away.
