Safari Rangers operate a unique South African Lion Safari in the famous Kruger National Park designed to ensure you spend your time searching, observing and learning all about South Africa's top predator.
Our Lion Safari is for anyone who has an extra interest in African Lions.
Based on our Classic Kruger Park Safari option the daily 'on road' game drives primarily focus on viewing the 'Lions of Kruger Park'.
There are currently 1500 Lions in the Kruger Park, they may be seen throughout the park but are particularly common in thetree savanna regions South of the Olifants River, where the general wildlife is more abundant.
It's due to South Africa's seasons that we can provide our unique Lion Safari. The winter season, referred to as the dry season, kicks in from April to August. It hardly rains throughout this time and the park is transformed into a brown and almost barren landscape.
The many smaller waterhole's and rivers dry up between June and August which forces the general wildlife to concentrate around the parks bigger waterhole's and rivers. The Lions know this and stakeout these areas for easier hunting.
The most important aspects to this whole scenario are:
A) Finding Lions is made easier as we focus on the parks bigger waterhole's.
B) All Lion sightings throughout the park especially 'Lion Kill' sightings are reported at the rest camps. We use this feedback to take you directly to the sightings.
C) Your chances of observing Lions hunting down animals like Impala, Warthog and bigger animals like Buffalo, Giraffe or Zebra; are increased.
Going on safari in Africa and witnessing a 'Lion Kill' is just incredible. With our Safari Rangers insight and knowledge of Lion territories in the Kruger Park and being at the right place at the right time, you might just be lucky enough to view some Lion action normally seen on the Discovery Channel.
Our Lion Safari is all about providing you with the opportunity to spend 4 or 5 days with the Legendry Lions of Kruger Park; a fantastic experience.

Safari Rangers is the only tour operator offering a Lion Safari in the Kruger National Park.
Whilst driving between Lion sightings you will of course encounter a large amount of other wildlife, adding to your overall Lion Safari experience.
The 4 and 5 day Lion Safaris are based and priced up as our Classic Kruger Park Safari option and are only available June, July and August.
Although we use all the resources at our disposal to make sure you encounter Lions, it is not 100% guaranteed.
